Michael:

Over the past three years there have been 452 instances of significant harm to children which have resulted in registrations to the Child Protection Register. These are children who are judged to be at risk of continuing risk of significant harm.

174 of these have been in respect of neglect

52 have been related to sexual abuse

136 have been in respect of emotional abuse

90 have been in respect of physical injury

Of those, and in respect of the gender and familial relationships of the perpetrator with respect to the child victim:

Neglect: 126 in respect of female perpetrators (all mothers), 48 in respect of male perpetrators

Sexual: 51 in respect of male perpetrators, 1 in respect of a female (20 perpetrators were mother's partners i.e. fathers, stepfathers, boyfriends, 15 were siblings, i.e. older brothers and 7 were extended family members and family friends)

Emotional: 76 were in relation to female perpetrators (all mothers), 60 were in relation to male perpetrators

Physical: 46 were in relation to male perpetrators, 44 were in relation to female perpetrators

This information is based on records held within children's social care. I have asked the police for additional info and will forward it on to you when it arrives. I trust you will find this useful. Apologies for the delay
